Aww-Natural

Made For Every-Body

Even For Clothes!

From Farm To Tub

We began making soaps in our kitchen in 2013 after discovering that the commercial soaps we’d been using our entire lives were made with detergents, animal fats, and other harsh chemicals that can cause irritation, allergies and other unpleasant side effects.

Five years later, we now have 33 locations across nine states, with many more on the way, all creating incredibly innovative bath and body products that are plant-based, hand-made, free of harsh chemicals, and look and smell amazing!

Now it's time to bring our wonderful creations to the rest of the country – and the world! – and we’re looking for passionate, motivated franchisees to come be a part of the Buff City Soap family.

Franchise FAQs

What is the next step in getting my Buff City Soap business started?

After submitting your initial inquiry (pending you meet the minimum requirements), we'll reach out personally to schedule a quick call or send you our Request for Consideration which helps give us some more detailed information to be evaluated in moving forward in the process to becoming a BCS franchisee.

What are the financial requirements associated with this franchise opportunity?

The minimum financial requirements to be evaluated as BCS franchisee are a net worth of $300,000 and liquid assets equivalent to $100,000 for a single unit. For multi-unit development a net worth of $500,000 and liquid assets equivalent to $200,000 are required for consideration.

What is franchising? How does it work?

Franchising is a way for a business to expand beyond its original owners. The power of franchising is realized through the combination of the contributions from the two participants.

The most common form of franchising is a business-format franchise, where the franchisor contributes certain elements including the brand/trademark for the concept, the business system (commonly called the operating system), and initial and ongoing support. The franchisee contribution involves the management skills to run the business day-to-day using the franchisor-provided brand and system, and capital to fund the opening and continued operations of the business. In addition, the franchisee brings a level of desire and interest in having the business succeed that is essential to franchising and is something the franchisor can't replicate on its own.

Your desire to succeed plays a huge role in your ongoing success. Franchisees pay initial franchise fees and then ongoing royalties for access to the format the franchisor has developed and for ongoing enhancements to the system. It's truly an attractive situation for both parties.

There is a contract called the Franchise Agreement signed by both parties that governs the relationship between the franchisor and franchisee and explains in detail the responsibilities of both sides. The franchisor is required to provide a copy of the Franchise Agreement and this contract will provide a roadmap for the duration of time the agreement is effective.

What qualifications does Buff City Soap seek in its potential franchisees?

There are certain qualities and qualifications that are essential to becoming a Buff City Soap franchisee, however, we strive to evaluate each individual/group on a case by case basis. Here are some of the things we look for:

  • A self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong desire to succeed
  • A willingness to devote your time and resources into the day-to-day operation of a BCS location
  • The ability to manage business functions such as finance, human resources, operations, etc.
  • The ability to motivate, train, and encourage people to live out the culture of the BCS family
  • The willingness to complete a comprehensive training and evaluation program to become an expert in all aspects of owning your own Soap Makery
  • Financial strength to fulfill capital requirements and financial qualifications

What is the availability of sites in my area?

The availability of franchises in specific areas will be discussed during your initial screening. However, Buff City Soap cannot predict which locations will be available when your inquiry and qualification process is completed.

The map located on this page is only reflective of our existing locations that are currently open for business, and does not reflect areas in the process of, or pending development.

What is the term of the franchise agreement?

The initial length of the franchise term is 10 years.

Will I receive assistance in finding a location for my Buff City Soap?

While it is ultimately the responsibility of our Franchisee's to locate and secure an acceptable location, our development team will provide guidance and assistance in the site selection process.

All sites must be approved by our internal development committee.

Do I receive training from Buff City Soap?

Yes!

We’ve spent years in our labs concocting all of our different products before we finally got to the right mix. That is also how we’ve grown Buff City Soap as a business, and over the years we’ve spent developing our business, we’ve tested and tinkered and changed and continuously developed our processes until we got to a point where we were ready to share it with the world.

Buff City Soap’s Franchise Support Team will be there every step of the way to offer guidance, training, and support as you bring your franchise to life.

What type of support will I receive as a franchisee?

Site Selection and Store Design:

Over the course of building our existing Buff City Soap stores, we've developed the look and feel of our locations to match our high-quality yet simple and rustic product offering. We will provide our franchisees with the guidance needed to open a franchised location that meets our brand standard and upholds the consumer experience that our customers continue to love.

Training and Operations:

Our comprehensive training program will provide you with all the necessary tools to open and operate your Buff City Soap store. Our program will involve pre- opening training, on-site training, and on the-job training as well as pairing you with a Franchise Business Consultant to assist you after store opening. We will also provide operation manuals that will allow franchisees to operate their stores in compliance with the high standards the Buff City Soap system has established.

In addition to being trained on our special soap blends, soap-making process, and the systems of the Buff City Soap "Makery", franchisees will receive training on what is required to run the business as whole.

Marketing and Ongoing Support:

Our marketing team will assist with creating cohesive and effective campaigns designed to reach and appeal to a broad audience while reinforcing the Buff City Soap brand. Strategic advertising, community relations, a robust social media presence, and media exposure will all work in tandem - ultimately achieving customer loyalty and sales!

Our team will provide you with a marketing introduction plan that includes both a marketing plan for your Grand Opening as well as guidance pertaining to opening inventory and other expenses to ensure that you are fully prepared to meet the demands of operating a Buff City Soap store.

Your Franchise Business Consultant will be in constant contact, offering ongoing support and periodic operational evaluations to make sure you are keeping with the standards set by Buff City Soap. Through on-site visits, webinars, phone calls and otherwise, we will stay connected and provide you with the guidance needed to be a success.

Can I open more than one store?

Yes! We encourage those franchisees who are qualified with special skills/systems or proven multi-unit franchise experience to pen multiple locations.

Based on your application and financial information, you may be eligible to purchase more than one Buff City Soap franchise up front.
